MGIL Mud Gas Isotopic Logging

Drilling mud gas is brought to the surface in the drilling mud stream. Samples are collected and shipped to shore for compound specific carbon isotope and gas compositional analysis.

Samples may be collected throughout a well providing gas geochemistry for all layers drilled.

MGIL analyses provide information on:

• Origin of gas (e.g. discrimination of bacterial from thermogenic methane; maturity and source of thermogenic gas.

• Basin connectivity: identification of basin seals and migration pathways.

• Reservoir connectivity: identification of seals and flow units correlation of gases and flow units between wells.
